Focus on common statistical concepts of measurement in medical studies and medical practice:

-Scale of measurement: quantitative, qualitative (a.k.a. categorical)

-Outcome of measure: prevalence, survival rates

-Numerical summary of data: centrality of measurement (mean, median, mode)

-Graphical display of data: the shape of the distribution

Evaluate diagnostic tests and/or screening tests including:

-Conditional probability

-Sensitivity and specificity as conditional probabilities

-Predictive value of positive screening tests or diagnostic tests
