NYU School of Medicine has a commitment to students' development of clinical skills. RIME is a model that we would like our students to be familiar with because it demonstrates some of the sequences students will go through as they master the progressively challenging elements of their training. This model provides a common language that faculty and students use to describe the specific actions associated with clinical skills mastery. We will revisit this model several times over the course of medical school training, and learners will likely encounter it in residency as well.
This activity explains how students can monitor their own skills progress over time while also explaining how residents and faculty can give students clear and useful feedback.
