These module are centered around the Cardiovascular disease pillar. The purpose of these modules is to show how the mechanisms of inflammation, the body’s response to injury, are relevant to clinical medicine and to the diagnosis and treatment of common diseases you will be encountering soon as physicians.
By the end of this module, you'll be able to:
1. Identify the clinical risk factors thought to lead to injury of the artery, initiating the inflammatory process of atherosclerosis
2. Describe the roles of the important cell types and chemoattractant molecules in atherosclerosis
3. Describe how the inflammatory process of atherosclerosis in the coronary arteries progresses to a clinical event, such as angina or a heart attack
